Quercus turneri is een halfwintergroene boom, ontstaan uit een kruising tussen Q. ilex en Q. robur. 'Pseudoturneri' is een geheel wintergroene cultivar die zich vanuit struikvorm ontwikkelt tot een soms meerstammige boom met een hoogte van 8 - 10 m. De groeiwijze is opgaand, later breed spreidend.
