Paint a small circle in the center of each eye. Then, add a smaller circle inside the first circle. Finally, add a thin line around the edge of the eye. To add skin tones, mix a light color, such as yellow or white, with a darker color, such as green or brown. Paint the skin tones on the Tyranid's head, body, and arms.

A boisterous bird that lives in California and nowhere else, the Yellow-billed Magpie is a riot of black, white, shimmering blue-green, and yellow. It lives in open oak woodlands of the Central Valley, the Coast Ranges, and the Sierra Nevada foothills. This magpie is gregarious throughout the year, even when nesting: dozens of pairs sometimes nest close to each other.

This is very time consuming and it's probably overkill if you plan to paint a large batch of tyranids with this technique. For a good tabletop quality, 2-3 layers of edge highlight are probably enough. So, i mixed blue-greens-grey etc until i obtained a color suitable for the first layer, something that could be similar to The Fang from GW.

My 7 tyranid colour schemes. Think I like #3 best for their simplicity & contrast. Though #2 is pretty slick also. Great work all round. All of them look great (nice detail work btw) but my favourite is the black ops one :)

A figure-eight-shaped BMX course appeared in the middle of another field. If a Livermore tarweed sprouted in your garden, you'd pull it. It is a weed, after all, and it looks like one. Since it grows instead in the wild — or at least, in an undeveloped field in the suburbs — it is much easier to ignore it.

A few months back in White Dwarf I saw Phil Kelly's Tyranid army painted in a black and yellow hornet type scheme. I thought that looked really cool, so I tried to do something similar with mine. I have made a discovery though: painting yellow over black = sucks. This is making it even more difficult to layer the yellows to show highlights etc.

Problem started with Yriel Yellow it kept turning black or dark brown, green and was almost a luminescent yellow so I decided to tone it down with more Averland yellow before giving it a dry brush of pale yellow. I should of dry brushed over the Yriel yellow rather than go back to Averland. so now I've got the biege to pale yellow going on.
